Event Description:
18th Annual Event, Washington State Relay Championships, low key and racer friendly 11-person run team relay, 153 miles; 7-person walk relay team , 100 miles. 1-person solos pay the single person $80 fee and begin Thursday afternoon (they are not supported by the event until such time as run & walk teams catch up and the relay support staff timetable is in affect).
TEAM CAPTAINS CAN REGISTER TEAMMATES USING THE TEAM CODE THEY ESTABLISH, ALL WITHIN THE TEAM PRICING AND CATEGORY STRUCTURE.
Entry includes collector quality long sleeved colored t-shirts with original NW wildlife art, commemorative finisher medals, awards and other amenities. Each runner and walker completes 3 legs in relay sequence. Route is on secondary roads through scenic areas of SW Washington. Terrain is mostly flat and rolling, no major hills. 33 legs range from 2+ to 6+ miles, determined by safe exchange areas. traffic controllers used at key points and exchanges. |

A midnight breakfast-shower-rest stop at Elma H. S. mid-point. Showers at end also, at North Beach H. S.. Finish area is just off the beach at Ocean shores. Awards function at 6PM Saturday. Finish celebration includes beer garden, dancing, karaoke (and contest), bowling, pool, video games, etc. at nearby Shores Bowl. Prize $ for total teams entered: 100-199 = $5M, 200-299 = $10M, ETC. up to $25M. Teams in lottery - $1M per team prizes awarded.
New categories:
Northwest High School Challenge, $1M to winner's H.S. Athl Dept.
100 team Hood To Coast Challenge, if 100 HTC teams enter, $10M prize money, $1M per team, divided among top 10 teams in overall relay.
Course Marshals sought - team volunteers will be used only during daylight hours on the course, at the Start and Finish. Additional people are to be hired as Traffic Controllers and in the night exchange locations. These are paid positions. We invite teams, clubs and individuals to apply. See Handbook for Details.
